| Position Details: | Overview:
Downstream & Chemicals Law is seeking an experienced legal analyst/paralegal to support Chevron’s Downstream & Chemicals attorneys in San Ramon, CA, on a wide range of commercial real estate-related agreements for Americas Products.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
The individual must perform delegated paraprofessional tasks under the guidance and direction of attorneys, including
- Providing detailed factual summaries of real estate transactions to attorneys.
- Reviewing and preparing purchase and sale agreements for motor fuel retail outlets.
- Performing legal due diligence and factual research.
- Reviewing/analyzing title reports, surveys, maps and plats; identifying issues of concern and clouds on title; guiding business and retailers on title issues.
- Preparing ground leases and related agreements for motor fuel retail outlets.
- Reviewing supporting documentation, identifying and obtaining missing information in order to draft various types of agreements for Retailer Owned-Retailer Operated new-to-industry and rebrand facilities; retailer to retailer assignments; retailer refinances; and retailer retentions.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years’ experience as a commercial/contracting legal analyst or paralegal, or a minimum of two years’ experience as a practicing commercial attorney.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience supporting attorneys on complex transactional matters.
- Demonstrated expertise in real property and commercial transactions.
- Strong analytical ability and research skills.
- Strong and careful communication skills (both oral and written). Ability to communicate effectively across broad functional and organizational lines.
- Commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work product while balancing varied deadlines and competing priorities.
- Self-starter who is adept at working in a team environment and partnering with colleagues, management, clients, in-house counsel, outside counsel and staff.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Detailed and meticulous, with a client service approach.
- Demonstrates good judgment and initiative.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of tools and legal research applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or a law degree from an ABA-accredited school.
- Expertise in reviewing title reports and clearing applicable clouds on title.
- Experience with SharePoint.
