SUMMARY
Evaluating Integrity Assessment Results to determine need for temporary pressure reductions. Initiating and tracking temporary pressure reductions associated with Pipeline Integrity Activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Providing input to new construction pipelines and due diligence to support Pipeline Integrity efforts. Incorporating newly operated assets into the IMP.
  • Providing input to annual budget for Integrity activities.
  • Staying current with the pipeline regulations, industry standards, integrity assessment methods, repair methods, etc.
  • Identifying preventive and mitigative measures
  • Determining the re-assessment interval and re-assessment methods through participation in P&M processes.
  • Providing Engineering support for Pipeline Integrity Projects including welding calculations, material selections, determination of required hydrostatic test pressures, MOP/MAOP calculations, evaluation of defects and recommending appropriate repairs.
This position also helps develop, implement, administer, and continuously improve multiple tools, processes and programs related to pipeline and terminal integrity, safety & regulatory compliance. Also actively work to build influence and establish/maintain a positive image for PAALP by actively interfacing with regulators, trade associations and other industry workgroups.
Primary duties will be in the areas of technical integrity, risk management, and regulatory support.
The Asset Integrity group works collaboratively across multiple organizations and assets located throughout the United States. This group also serves as the primary interface for regulatory agencies and industry groups including but not limited to: DOT/PHMSA - Office of Pipeline Safety, Texas Railroad Commission, American Petroleum Institute, Association of Oil Pipe Lines, and Pipeline Research Council International
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Knowledge of applicable inspection and maintenance codes and standards (e.g. API 653, API 1160, ASME B31.4).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong team player. Works effectively and cooperatively with other departments within the company; including Pipeline Operations, Pipeline Control, and Commercial. Actively shares knowledge and skills with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Self-starter and proactive with strong organizational skills. Must be able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, set realistic goals, and complete commitment on schedule.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Experience in or ability to learn risk assessment methodology.
  • At least 5 years of related experience in the following areas strongly preferred:
    • Interpretation of DOT/PHMSA regulations and standards.
    • Inspection/testing, maintenance of pipeline(s)
    • Pipeline design/installation/fabrication
