ROLE SYNOPSIS

The Process Engineer will work as the technical expert to coach and assist the operations team to optimize and improve Environmental, Health & Safety performance, production throughput, plant operations, and product quality. This role will have close interaction with the Production Team Leader, Maintenance Coordinator, Lab personnel, and Maintenance personnel to effectively achieve team goals. This position is located in Barnsdall, OK at the Barnsdall Manufacturing plant, reporting to the Area Production Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Serves as the technical expert for the plant on the assigned processes
  • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products as our highest priority
  • Identify, evaluate, develop, specify, justify, install, and start-up process improvements to increase production capacity, improve operating reliability, reduce manufacturing costs, reduce energy usage, conserve raw materials, improve product yields and improve product quality
  • Provide production support for continuous improvement/process optimization projects to improve the safety, quality, and productivity of the manufacturing processes
  • Responsible owner for Process Safety Management (PSM) programs. Lead or patriciate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR's), and management of change (MOC's). Leads and participates in incident investigations. Basic understanding of applicable codes, standards and RAGAGEP
  • Provide stewardship in day to day operations of documentation, operating procedures, KPIs, process training, safe operating limits and HSE compliances. Track production efficiencies, cycle times, OEE, asset utilization and helps with capacity planning
  • Provide technical support to PLC, DCS and SIS control systems. Strong understanding of control systems capabilities infrastructure, trouble shooting, control loops and functionality
  • Leads small capital projects where appropriate
  • Other tasks as assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering with 3+ years of chemical manufacturing experience or 3+ years with a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 3 years of work experience in a chemical manufacturing facility
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, and customer service
  • Proficient in reading and understanding design documents such as P&IDs, instrument loop drawings, PFD schematics
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers including Microsoft Office
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • PSM knowledge and experience is a huge plus
  • Chemical batch process experience is preferred
  • Experience with Siemens PCS7 programming and hardware is preferred
  • Six Sigma green belt certification is a plus
