Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Instrument and Electrical (I&E) Reliability Analyst located in El Segundo, CA through October 18, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Overview:

The successful candidate will be part of the Instrumentation, Electrical, and Analyzer Reliability (IEAR) Team that is responsible for managing the reliability of refinery instrumentation, electrical, and analyzer equipment. The I&E Analyst position focuses on instrumentation and electrical equipment in a given area of the refinery, with instrumentation accounting for approximately 70% of their workload. Primary tasks for this position include analysis of surveillance & condition monitoring results, maintaining asset management strategies, support of maintenance activities, troubleshooting problems to determine root causes and appropriate corrective actions, and small capital project support. This position will report to the Instrumentation, Electrical and Analyzer Reliability Team Lead.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
  • Provide reliability support for instrumentation issues in one or more areas of the refinery - this includes assisting maintenance activities, troubleshooting equipment problems to identify root causes and appropriate corrective actions, and providing input on instrumentation requirements and selection for small capital projects.
  • The following list is a sample of the types of equipment this position has reliability responsibilities for: pressure, temperature, flow (dP, coriolis, eddy, etc), and level (dP, float guided wave radar, etc) transmitters; control valves; pressure, temperature, and level switches; position indicators; etc.
  • Provide reliability support for the electrical equipment located in the plant(s) for which the position is assigned. This will primarily focus on low voltage (480V) equipment such as motors, motor starters, transformers, VFDs, etc.
  • Actively participate in the Loss Prevention System to identify behavior and work process improvement opportunities, root causes, and effective corrective actions that will help eliminate incidents and injuries.
  • Detect and prevent instrumentation and electrical equipment failures through the use of predictive and preventative techniques, root cause determination for repetitive instrumentation failures with appropriate correct actions, promoting the use of I&E equipment asset strategies, and providing recommendations for small capital project I&E requirements and selection.
  • Conduct and/or support incident investigations and sRCM, FMEA, and RCFA studies for I&E equipment.
  • Ensure IEAR records are documented accurately and completely with emphasis on root cause identification, history briefs of repairs/failures, and detailed records of internal and external inspections.
  • Participate as an active member of the IEAR Team to collectively meet the IEAR Team's goals.
  • Work with IMPACT and maintenance to ensure proper shutdown work scope development and submission for division I&E equipment.
  • Create or modify PM's, job guidelines, or procedures when needed for I&E equipment.

    Required Qualifications:
     
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years of maintenance, reliability and/or technical support of instrumentation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Self-motivated and assertive person with experience in reliability & maintenance practices, procedures, and tools.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and orally.
  • Efficient and competent using common computer programs such as outlook, word, and excel.

    Preferred Qualifications:
     
  • Maintenance, reliability, and/or technical experience supporting instrument systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Loss Prevention System proficiency.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related engineering discipline.
  • Reliability engineering experience.
  • Refining process plant experience.
  • Equipment failure analysis techniques such as root cause failure analysis, FMEA. sRCM, etc.
  • Practical knowledge of Maximo and Meridium applications.

    Demonstrated prior related experience is highly desirable, and will be a major factor in the evaluation of candidates.

    Relocation Options:

    Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
