
The following opportunity is a contract position working as an Intertek employee in the facilities and under the direction of our client, a major oil and gas operator. This is not a permanent position with Intertek.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role will report to the Topsides Commissioning Superintendent.
This role is expected to start immediately and finish in April 2016 but there is an option to extend the assignment to 2Q 2017
This role will be primarily based in the office Houston, TX, and if the option is extended then to the TOFCO yard, Trinidad and finally offshore Trinidad
This role will be responsible for developing the plan and coordinating the resources to lead:
Commissioning of the topsides mechanical systems with a focus on rotating and static equipment.
System walk down and punching management
Special cleaning coordination
Inspection of critical vessel Internals
Work completion tracking
The Commissioning team is responsible for construction completion verification, cleaning of key systems, function testing of systems and hardware, and assisting operations in achieving initial production.
Commissioning is a critical phase of the project where by the duration of the work needs to be minimized while assuring thorough completion of work, managing activities safely, within budget, and within 'person's on board' limitations.
Individual should have excellent interpersonal, technical, communications, organizing and planning skills.
Responsibilities:
Assure that the System Commissioning Procedures are developed, approved, and finalized per the planning schedule and include the appropriate content and detail to assure safe and thorough commissioning.
Supporting project Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) including: reviewing procedures, assigning resources, periodically attending FAT, and adjusting commissioning scope to integrate FAT successes and deficiencies
Coordinating the mechanical commissioning activities, both in the planning and potentially the execution phase.
Work with the commissioning team to set priorities for system turnover that allows for productive simultaneous operations (SIMOPs) that allows for safe commissioning of systems while the construction contractor completes and turns over the remaining systems.
Assuring that the Commissioning execution plan includes the materials, special tools, and vendor support for a safe and productive pace.
Development, tracking, and adjusting commissioning execution schedule.
Working with engineering and operations department to promptly find the preferred alternative for alleviating issues discovered during commissioning.
Assisting in the development of commissioning spare parts listing and quantities.
Individual will be expected to interface effectively with project personnel (project leadership and engineering staff), sub-sea commissioning team, operations team, contract field construction personnel, and vendor support staff.
Individual will work in a team environment and must be able to quickly understand the roles of those in the interfacing teams, develop quick relationships, and work effectively to assure that the commissioning work integrates well in the overall project plan.
Reporting:
Monitor and report against Commissioning Plan.
Regular (initial weekly, eventually daily) Reports during the Commissioning Phase of the project.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
This position requires a minimum of 7 years of offshore platform commissioning experience and a preferred 10 years in support of upstream projects or production.
EDUCATION:
A mechanical engineering degree is preferred
