Job Description
REPORTS TO: Manager of Financial Reporting
DEPARTMENT: Financial Reporting
LOCATION: Houston, TX
BASIC FUNCTION:
Assists in the preparation of various financial reports distributed both within and outside the company.
DUTIES:
1. Preparation: Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports and consolidated financial statements, quarterly and annual SEC filings (i.e., Form 10-Q and Form 10-K). Preparation to consist of analysis of various accounts as required to support footnote disclosures, management's discussion and analysis, and internal management reports (board and analytical packages). Ensure proper format is used and supporting schedules are prepared and cross-referenced in a well organized manner for departmental files.
2. Reports: Prepare assigned sections of management reports, financial statements, footnote disclosures and SEC required reports with attention to detail, organization and formatting. Ensure proper supporting schedules and referenced workpapers are prepared.
3. Review: Review work of others, as assigned.
4. Assistance: Provide Investor Relations and other departments support for financial information presented in press releases and investor and analyst presentations.
5. Liaison: Liaison with internal and external auditors to furnish requested information in a timely manner for the quarterly reviews and annual audits.
6. Special Projects: Assist with special projects, as needed, providing answers on a timely basis to a variety of financial accounting and operational questions. Formulate plans and procedures to implement changes in reporting requirements and numerous other assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor degree with a major in Accounting or Finance; CPA or active pursuit of CPA certification.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 5 years professional accounting experience with 2-3 years public accounting experience and some supervisory experience is preferred; SEC financial reporting and mulit-level consolidation experience is preferred.
SKILLS:
Advanced ability to effectively use spreadsheets, word processing, operating systems, database and communications software programs. Exposure to and understanding general ledger accounting. Strong organizational skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Preparation of cross-referenced documentation in a well organized manner that reflects adequate attention to detail and meets department standards. Good oral and written communications skills; high level of integrity, ingenuity and initiative. Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment and flexibility to work hours needed to meet deadlines.
INGENUITY:
Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment. Recognize problems and offer solutions. Possess strong analytical skills with ability to interpret results. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing time effectively. Develop more efficient and effective ways of working with information and analysis.
