
Job Description The Brand Manager will join the team at a critical time and report to the General Manager, playing a pivotal role in leading Shells PE business. The key deliverable is the design and flawless execution of a brand and product launch strategy. Unlike most other Chemicals products, PE producers have strong brands, for the business, type of product and end use application. There are also over 50 finished products in the business and these names also need to be defined. This role represents a unique opportunity to lead the development of an entirely new brand within Shell. Success will be dependent on the incumbents ability to simultaneously manage a significant number of parallel initiatives, complex stakeholder network and the external agencies with a challenging timeline to delivery.
- Clearly understand the Customer Value Proposition, identify and align with the Commercial Team regarding the image the PE business wants to project both externally and internally.
- Develop branding strategy; main brand, sub-brands, product naming methodology.
- Identify and contract agencies required to support branding strategy execution.
- Fully leverage broader Shell capabilities; particularly in the Lubes area.
- Develop logos; test externally & internally, validate in the global market.
- Consult, collaborate with and obtain approvals from Shell Brands International in Switzerland.
- Obtain trademark and regulatory approvals as required.
- Develop website, work with Commercial and Technical Team to build content and launch plan.
- Digital and printed advertising strategy, execution and delivery of content.
- Customer event strategy and planning.
- Development of Technical Data Sheets, Specification Sheets etc. in conjunction with Technical.
- Trade shows launch strategy, budget, and leadership of trade show participation.
- Full global commercial product launch upon start-up of plant.
- Work with domestic and export distribution partners to understand and deliver branding, advertising support required. support smaller regional trade shows in South America.
- Support Manufacturing in translating our external brand to support Site Identity. Ensure Manufacturing involvement in Product Launch & Customer Engagement to create one business.
- Develop others within the PE Commercial team to build broader marketing competency throughout the organization.
Requirements
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Minimum ten (10) years experience in marketing roles incl. brand management, ideally in a B2B environment
- Passion, creativity and an ability to generate new ideas, innovate and obtain stakeholder buy in will be key to success in this role.
- Proven knowledge of Shell Brands International procedures, existing internal Branding, Advertising & Sponsorship resources (particularly Lubes) which can be leveraged preferred.
- Proven international experience and experience of market research in several different areas, preferred.
- Proven experience launching a new product or brand
- Experience managing research & advertising agencies & negotiating contracts
- Proven interpersonal and influencing skills, a clear appetite for delivery and a can do mentality.
- Track record of delivering through others in a fast paced, dynamic and demanding environment.Ability to engender a sense of urgency in others and drive quick decision making.
