
The Global Payroll Manager has global accountability for the payroll operation of Murphy Oil Corporation, ensuring accurate, timely and efficient payment to employees, payroll related taxes to government agencies, and reporting of payroll to Finance. In this role the Global Payroll Manager will govern various vendor relationships that support the payroll process in addition to managing the Payroll staff. This individual will provide strategic direction and engage with other functions to coordinate overall process review to ensure the consistent delivery of services.
Essential Responsibilities Lead the global payroll function to ensure compliance and drive standardization across locations Supervise all functions of the Payroll Department, including administration of payroll, timely payroll tax filings, maintaining payroll reconciliation, financial and operational analysis, management reporting and reporting and remittance of all payroll withholdings Manages payroll systems and processes to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions. Administer the creation and distribution of payroll financial reports and records Ensure the processing of new hires, contingent workers, transfers, promotions and terminations are accurate and timely Oversees the resolution of outstanding items within accounting. Enforces company payroll policies and related processes to ensure maximum efficiency and accuracy Acts as the liaison with internal departments and external vendors such as ADP Direct the activities of payroll staff by creating opportunities to enhance the technical and operational business knowledge of the staff Develop strong working relationships with both internal and external business partners and effectively collaborate and communicate with stakeholders Identify ways to continually improve and increase compliance with internal or external requirements
Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related business field, or equivalent work experience Minimum of 8 years of payroll experience Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated managerial experience leading teams including development of staff in global operation processes Understanding of global and regional issues Strong verbal and written communication skills Project management skills and the ability to plan and manage team workloads Strong analytical, organizational, troubleshooting and problem resolution skills Ability to build and maintain partnerships at various staff and management levels and across various functions Ability to work under pressure and multi-task within time-sensitive constraints Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail Ability to navigate compliance requirements in a global setting either through local teams or external relationships Demonstrated proficiency with ADP suite of products and SAP
