A fast-growing, dynamic, multinational subsurface data management company is looking to hire a Vice President of Finance in Houston, Texas to oversee its financial reporting and lead its accounting staff in Canada, USA, UK, and Australia.
General Description: This position is responsible for direct supervision of all accounting and financial functions. Primary responsibilities include providing leadership and guidance to the team of accountants, review the monthly financial reporting and perform consolidation of subsidiaries. Recurring tasks include reviewing monthly, quarterly and annual billings to clients for services provided, overseeing collection of accounts receivable, supervising accounts payable, check runs, payroll and bank reconciliation. This position works with the Company's CEO and executive management team to develop business forecasts for monthly and annual cash flow and annual budget. This person will also be part of the management team that provides input over identification of business risk and business growth opportunities. The ideal candidate wants to continue to develop and grow as the organization expands.
Essential Responsibilities Include: • Supervise staff of 4-5 personnel in the Finance department; • Accurate and timely production of all financial information, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for each profit center as well as consolidated results; • Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance; • Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget, monthly variance and forecasts with operational department heads; • Assist in establishing short and long range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; • Ensure adequate controls are in place and substantiate that all documentation is approved and available for audit testing; • Oversee payroll activities for the Company including benefits, RRSP, 401K and health plan; • Coordinate the activities of independent auditors and the preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for Private Enterprises and other required supplementary schedules and information; • Manage and monitor external banking relationships for the organization; • Assist in compiling schedules for tax compliance filing which is outsourced; • Coordinate with various department heads to negotiate operating leases including equipment, rental and service agreements.
Required: • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills; • Completion of a Certified Accounting Designation (CGA, CMA, CA, or CPA); • Minimum 10 years of accounting/finance experience; • Upstream Oil & Gas industry experience is preferred; • Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment of providing a high level of customer satisfaction both internally and externally; • Experience managing or supervising personnel; • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; • Knowledge of Sage Software 300 (Accpac) is preferred; • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
